YouGov

Summary

Note: Links may award me referral rewards such as in-app points or money.

YouGov is a public opinion gathering platform where people can give and discuss their opinions on the issues of the day. Surveys are offered periodically which can be completed to earn money or entries into prize draws.

YouGov pays out £50 once you have collected 5000 points. Each survey is generally worth 50 points so you have to complete around 100 surveys, with each survey taking roughly 10-15 minutes to complete.

The YouGov app is available on Android and iOS, which can be helpful as it notifies you whenever a new survey is released.

How does it work?

YouGov is a public opinion gathering platform where people can give and discuss their opinions on the issues of the day. This involves

  • Daily polls,
  • The rating of things like celebrities and movies
  • Surveys

Answering the polls and offering ratings do not have any rewards associated with them but the surveys can be completed to earn money or entries into prize draws.

Although the payout from YouGov is large (£50) it does require quite a lot of effort to get it. You become eligible to claim £50 once you have collected 5000 points.

Generally each survey is worth 50 points so you have to complete around 100 surveys. Alternatively, your points can be exchanged for entries into prize draws (one entry per point). YouGov tend to offer one survey every few days and each survey take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete.

The surveys can be quite interesting when they focus on current news and events. However, they also offer surveys about commerical products and services (sometimes on behalf of companies) and these tend to be less interesting.

It’s also worth noting that they occasionally release surveys which only reward with prize draw entries.

Opinion

To be honest I’ve got bored of filling in YouGov surveys – I now only complete them occasionally. I’ve accrued just under 2500 points so am half way to earning £50.

The good thing about YouGov is that surveys are released very regularly so you can gradually chip away at the 5000 point goal over as long a period as you like. The bad thing is that the company does not offer any rewards at all until you meet the goal. Whether this is an issue depends on how patient you think you are :-).
