How does it work?
HuYu is a service similar to Receipt Hog which rewards you with points for uploading receipts.
Unlike Receipt Hog, HuYu also periodically offers short surveys which can be completed for points and you can also earn by referring friends. The final option for earning is fairly unique – allowing you to earn a fairly substantial number of points by uploading a snapshot of your browsing history. For some this might be a step too far but it’s nice to have the option.

Opinion
One good aspect of HuYu is that it offers a huge variety of gift card providers so you’re very likely to find something of interest.
Receipt Hog rewards vary based on the total value of the receipt uploaded. HuYu makes no such distinction, offering a uniform 5 points per receipt. HuYu is also more picky about the types of receipts it’ll accept – at the time of writing it’s only interested in:
In-store receipts from:
- Tesco,
- Morrisons,
- Aldi,
- Lidl
- Co-Op
And online shopping receipts from:
- Tesco
- Morrisons
- Sainsbury’s
- Asda
- Waitrose
- Ocado
One benefit of the app is that the payouts are very quick. When I claimed an Amazon voucher it paid out immediately. The app states that payout might take up to 1 day however.

Receipt Hog tends to take a while to let you know if your receipt has been recognised and accepted which can be a bit frustrating as you have to keep hold of the receipt in case it didn’t process correctly for some reason. HuYu doesn’t have that issue, responding with a success/failure status within seconds. The downside is that, although it tries to detect the receipt image within your submitted photo HuYu requires you to check and make adjustments to the receipt before it processes it – Receipt Hog tends to be a bit smarter, not requiring any adjustments to be made.
