Receipt Hog is an Android and iOS app which rewards you for uploading your receipts. Receipts from other members of your household are also accepted.
I’ve been using Receipt Hog regularly for about 4 months and have only recently earned enough coins to claim a £3 Amazon voucher. However, I think I’ll persist with using Receipt Hog for now at least as the rewards do increase as you continue levelling up so I’m hoping this is a slow burner.

How does it work?
Receipt Hog is an Android and iOS app which rewards you for uploading your receipts. Receipts from other members of your household are also accepted.
The rewards offered by the app vary by receipt type. The rewards on offer are “coins”, sweepstake entries and “spins”.
“Coins” can be exchanged for Amazon vouchers, MasterCard prepaid cards or PayPal payments. The sweepstakes are drawn monthly and give you the chance to win “coins”. Spins allow you to enter the Hog Slots which offer coin and cash prizes.
In addition to manual uploads you can also link your email inbox with the app which will then try to automatically detect eligible receipts from online purchases.
The app has a levelling system similar to that seem in role playing games. Each week you upload at least one receipt you gain experience points which accumulate to eventually increase your level. Each level-up rewards you with Hog slot spins or, in the later levels coins. Each level-up also improves your weekly upload rewards.
Opinion
I’ve been using Receipt Hog regularly for about 4 months and have only recently earned enough coins to claim a £3 Amazon voucher. That should give you an idea of how slow the process is. Admittedly I don’t tend to make too many purchases each week so more prolific spenders will probably see faster progress. It’s fairly painless to submit receipts as you just take a photo and the app works out all the details. It doesn’t always do this correctly, but it’s right most of the time.
I think I’ll persist with using Receipt Hog for now at least as the rewards do increase as you continue levelling up so I’m hoping this is a slow burner. For example, in my last level up I earned 12 Hog Slot spins and I’ll earn 20 when I reach the next level.
