Pi, the digital currency can not currently be traded as it’s still being developed but it costs nothing to get involved and is extremely simple to manage. Pi mining is currently easier as a bonus is given to “Pioneers” (early adopters).

Sign-up is currently only available via referral – if you’re interested my referral link is here.

Sweatcoin now counts indoor steps

Sweatcoin is an iPhone and Android app which pays you in tokens to walk. These tokens can be exchanged for prizes which vary over time.

See my review for a more detailed description of the software.

Previously Sweatcoin only counted outdoor steps as their algorithm relied on using GPS for step verification. However, this is no longer the case as within the last month they have started accepting indoor steps.

How does it work?

Slidejoy is an app for Android which shows you adverts on your lock screen and rewards you with “carats”. Carats can be exchanged for cash and gift cards.

Earning carats solely through the adverts on your lock screen is a slow process. It’s much faster to take part in surveys and tasks offered by Slidejoy partners (e.g. Fyber).

The app also allows you to scratch a number of virtual scratch cards each day with the possibility of winning Carats. So far it seems that you always win at least one carat per scratch card but I’m yet to win anything more substantial.

The app seems to behave well in terms of energy usage (2% of my battery over the two and a half days) but is heavier on data (138 MB over one month when I was using the app more heavily but only about 30 MB a month recently).

Over the last few months I’ve made 1800 carats which is equivalent to somewhere in the region of just over a dollar. Unfortunately you can only claim when you reach a certain amount. For example, a £4 Amazon gift card is currently 5007 carats.

Slidejoy appears legitimate but unless you take part in taking surveys or playing games the accrual of carats is very slow. That said, I’ll probably keep it installed as it can be used completely passively. It does make unlocking my phone slightly harder though so that might be a deal breaker for some.
